SHOULD this have been FLAGGED
(OPEN LETTER for the
"FOOD for the HUNGRY")
If so.........WHY??
Hello GATHER FRIENDS and FAMILY,
After posting this to all in my email ADDY of my family, friends and contacts; to TRY and raise money to help our brothers and sisters through hard times during the seasons that tug at your heartstrings the most, ALL that has been added is my lone $1.00.
I KNOW MY GATHER FRIENDS can do better than that! If everyone just donates a dollar; as I have, we will make the goal of $200.00 to HELP many people have at least a good meal a couple of times in a week.
YOU DON'T HAVE to be a CHRISTIAN to donate and the money DOESN'T just feed Christian's. Being a CHRISTIAN is a CONDITION of the HEART, MIND and SOUL! WE are ALL BROTHERS and SISTERS.
Thanks and GOD BLESS ALL my GATHER friends!!

Open letter asking for donations.
--------------------------------
Hi Rose T,
I am contacting you today regarding your request for donations. At this difficult time for many people I hesitate to raise this, but I must clarify our site policies. It is against site policies to solicit members for any reason - for themselves or for others. Gather private messaging, posts and comments cannot be used by any member to ask for any kind of financial assistance. There are so many worthwhile causes that if we allowed this, the site would be overrun with requests and not all would be legitimate requests. We need to shelter all members from those who would use solicitations for personal gain. I hope you can understand and support this policy.
I encourage you to take this opportunity to review Gather’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, so that you are clear on Gather’s site policies:

and

Should you have any questions about Gather’s policies, please feel free to e-mail me directly.
Best regards,
MaryAnne

Subject: [HaRD TIMES Cafe']Flagged my article "Food for the Hungry" ????
Sent: Nov 13, 2009 10:31 AM EST
Well I see this article on FOOD for the Hungry has been flagged. In all my years on Gather, Never has one of my articles been flagged. The AD raising money to buy NON nutritional Kraft Mac and Cheese wasn't flagged, so can you tell me why this one raising food for families in the USA who might NOT have even a meal during our Thanksgiving would be flagged????
Blessings

Your Needs ARE Heard (Food For the Hungry)
Having had to go to food banks off and on in my short fifty three years, I know the humbling feelings; having to hold my hands out for help.
In a world of plenty, there should never be a reason one of our brothers and sisters should have to cry out for help.
We need to look, and we will find. We need to ask and it should be given.
For God IS good and has given us the task of being our brother's and sister's keepers.
Team Fundraising Goal: $200.00

| Total Value of Gifts: $1.00 |

THIS is the REASONING for the POST
“It’s really bad. People are out of work. People are suffering.”
Frances has lived in Morganton, N.C., for over 45 years. In all that time, she’s never seen more families in need of help than this year. But with the support of NAME of ORGANIZATION, many of them, including Frances, are finding relief at The Outreach Center.
“Our unemployment rate, as of now, is at about 14.3%,” said Glenn Biddick, assistant director at The Outreach Center. “We see a lot of people come … because they cannot buy food for themselves.”
This Thanksgiving, be a blessing to a hungry family.
Every dollar we can raise will pay for the
delivery of $10 worth of food. That means
$100 equals $1,000 worth of hunger relief.
The Outreach Center is just one of over 5,200 partner ministries (THIS WAS THE NAME OF the ORGANIZATION) supports nationwide.
Thanks to the food items they receive from NAME of ORGANIZATION the center is able to serve about 1,200 impoverished families every single week, providing basic groceries like bread and canned goods.
With Thanksgiving almost here, having that help means more than ever, especially for thousands of struggling Americans who may have nothing to put on their plates.
But you can change that. ............................................................
Mary, who suffers from diabetes, started coming to The Outreach Center after her husband lost his job in May. She said, “It’s hard to buy groceries and other things, especially if you have to buy a lot of medicine.” Her mother, Naomi, a widow on a fixed income, also receives some help from the center. “If it wasn’t for this, I don’t know what I’d do. It’s a blessing every week, to come and get the food,” she said.
Mary and Naomi are just a few of the thousands of hungry Americans we can help this Thanksgiving. With your support, we can bless even more. Thank you for your compassion.
May God bless you,
I read the guidlines and still believe in my heart this post did NOT violate the guidlines for post.
And this is the email I received from Gather two days after we were asking what does "other" mean?
The mac and cheese by Kraft was plastered all over this site. I believe we can do far better than mac and cheese for those who are hungry.
I also believe because I don't have the funds to BUY an ad, (to help those less fortunate); that Kraft who profited on the backs of the poor with a product that has very little nutritional value .......
Here is a link to show how the nutritional value rates.

The bad: This food is very high in Sodium. (salt)
WHICH can and does cause high blood pressure in certain people. High blood pressure may then lead to heart disease, kidney disease or stroke.
Kraft got preferential treatment!!
Unfortunately, when my children were growing up we had a lot of Kraft mac and cheese due to hardship.
Any little bit of meat was always added to the mac and cheese to fill their little bellies. Now we are reaping the harvest in health.
The only redeeming factors...
We ate a lot of TURKEY HAMBERGER and WHEAT bread because we couldn't afford the so called REAL WONDER BREAD, which is basically the white glue you use to use in kindergarden.
It is much better to make your own or steer clear of the pre-fab cheeses.
Like I always say......... God IS good and DOES take care of his people.
